The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting through videoconference with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Within the frames of the meeting, the parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Police Cooperation, which has a status of an international treaty and provides for the cooperation between the parties in strategic, as well as operational directions.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to the United Arab Emirates, Paata Kalandadze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Butkhuzi and the Director of International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ekaterine Machavariani, and from the United Arab Emirates’ side – by General Inspector of the Ministry of Interior, charge d’affairs of the United Arab Emirates to Georgia and other high level officials.
At the end of the videoconference, the parties underlined the importance of sectoral cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates, which aims at capacity building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and introduction of technological novelties within the frames of the ”safe city-safe country” project.
